Freddy Flores, suspected of firing a gun on a Bronx street and injuring a 2-year-old boy, was arrested by the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force after reporting to a diversion program for a past offense. He was charged with attempted murder, assault, criminal possession of a weapon, and reckless endangerment. Flores allegedly shot the toddler in the hip on East Fordham Road and the Grand Concourse, but the child was in stable condition after being taken to the hospital.

The arrest took place in downtown Manhattan, with Flores being apprehended in front of 100 Centre Street as he arrived for an appearance related to a plea deal he made in a previous case. The police recovered multiple shell casings at the scene of the shooting on Saturday. Flores had a history of criminal activity, having been charged with grand larceny in March 2023 for fishing for checks in a mailbox on the Upper East Side. He pleaded guilty to petit larceny and was required to complete six sessions at Manhattan Justice Opportunities.

Manhattan Justice Opportunities is a program that offers community-based diversion and sentencing options to reduce incarceration and criminal convictions for individuals charged with low-level offenses and felonies. Flores had reached a plea deal in a prior case, resulting in no jail time but mandated participation in the Manhattan Justice Opportunities program. The program seeks to provide support and alternatives to incarceration for individuals facing criminal charges.

The NYPD charged Flores with attempted murder and assault, along with other charges related to the shooting that injured the 2-year-old boy. The toddler sustained a gunshot wound to the hip during the incident on East Fordham Road. The suspect’s arrest was carried out by federal agents in front of a justice facility in Manhattan, where he was scheduled for an appearance. This arrest came after Flores reported to the diversion program he was involved in as part of his prior case.

Law enforcement sources and police confirmed the arrest of Freddy Flores, the suspect in the shooting that injured the 2-year-old boy in the Bronx. Multiple shell casings were discovered at the scene of the shooting on Saturday. Flores had a prior criminal record, including charges of grand larceny for fishing for checks in a mailbox. The program he was involved in, Manhattan Justice Opportunities, aims to provide alternatives to jail time for non-violent offenders by offering diversion and sentencing options.

The arrest of Freddy Flores by the United States Marshal Service Fugitive Task Force was made in connection with the shooting that resulted in a 2-year-old boy being wounded in the Bronx. The toddler was taken to the hospital and was reported to be in stable condition. Flores faced charges including attempted murder, assault, and criminal possession of a weapon, in addition to counts related to the stray bullet shooting. The arrest took place as Flores reported to a diversion program that was part of a prior plea deal he had made in a separate case.
