Giants to be without crucial offensive weapon for Sunday Night Football against Bengals

New York Giants running back Devin Singletary will be sidelined for the upcoming Week 6 game against the Cincinnati Bengals due to a groin injury. Singletary’s availability was downgraded to out on Saturday, marking his second consecutive game missed because of the injury. In his absence, rookie Tyrone Tracy is expected to step in as the starting running back after an impressive performance against the Seattle Seahawks in the previous week. Singletary, who signed a three-year, $16.5 million contract in the offseason following Saquon Barkley’s departure to Philadelphia, has been a key player for the Giants with 221 rushing yards and two touchdowns in the season so far.

To address the multiple injuries on their roster, the Giants signed veteran punter Matt Haack on Saturday. Haack, who demonstrated his skills in a successful workout, has a career average of 44.5 yards per punt and will be playing in his 100th NFL game on Sunday. His addition to the team comes as punter Jamie Gillan and wide receiver Bryce Ford-Wheaton have also been ruled out for the upcoming game. The Giants’ decision to bring in Haack reflects their efforts to strengthen the team despite the setbacks, with the hope of improving their performance moving forward.

In addition to Singletary’s absence, the Giants will also be without star receiver Malik Nabers, who is recovering from a concussion sustained in Week 4. Nabers’ attendance at a Travis Scott concert sparked controversy, with some fans questioning his commitment to his recovery. Giants head coach Brian Daboll clarified that Nabers’ presence at the concert did not violate concussion protocol, but the public perception was negative. While Daboll did not provide specific details about Nabers’ progress in the protocol, he noted that the receiver is making gradual advancements and will continue to be evaluated day by day.

With Singletary and Nabers sidelined, the Giants face a challenging task in their Week 6 matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals led by quarterback Joe Burrow. Despite the absence of key players, the team remains focused on preparing for the game and seeking ways to overcome the obstacles they face. As they navigate the hurdles posed by injuries and roster changes, the Giants are determined to put forth a strong effort and compete to the best of their abilities. With Tracy expected to step up in Singletary’s place and Haack providing punting support, the team is working towards a cohesive and resilient performance on the field.
