Month-old twin boys, Khyzier and Khazmir, became the youngest known victims of Hurricane Helene when a large tree fell through the roof of their home in Thomson, Georgia, killing them alongside their mother, Kobe Williams. Kobe had been speaking with her family members on the phone as the storm raged outside, sitting in bed holding her sons. The tragic event occurred while Kobe’s mother, Mary Jones, was on the other side of the trailer home, hearing the loud crash of the tree falling through the roof but unable to reach her daughter or grandsons in time.

The devastated grandfather, Obie Williams, shared that he had yet to meet his grandsons and now never will have the opportunity. The babies were born on August 20 and are among the youngest victims of the storm that had claimed over 200 lives across several states. Kobe’s niece, Chiquita Jones-Hampton, spoke fondly of Kobe and described her as excited and proud to be the mother of the twin boys. The family is currently in shock and heartbroken over the loss of Kobe and the twins, expressing their deep sorrow and devastation.

In the aftermath of the hurricane, Obie Williams found himself trapped in his neighborhood in Augusta, while many of his 14 other children across Georgia were still without power in their homes. Some sought refuge in Atlanta, while others came to Augusta to mourn together with their father. Describing Kobe as a lovable, social, and strong woman, Obie shared fond memories of her always smiling and making people laugh. Kobe was also remembered for her love of dancing, a trait that those who knew her cherished dearly.

The community in Thomson, Georgia, mourns the loss of Kobe and her twin sons, with their tragic passing being felt by all those who knew them. The Williams family is united in their grief, with family members coming together to support each other during this difficult time. The entire region continues to deal with the aftermath of the hurricane, with power outages, fallen trees, and debris blocking roads creating challenges for residents.

As the recovery efforts begin in the wake of Hurricane Helene, the Williams family and the community at large reflect on the impact of the storm and the lives lost. The memory of Kobe and her twin sons will live on in the hearts of those who knew them, with their tragic deaths serving as a reminder of the devastating power of natural disasters. The Williams family will continue to grieve and remember Kobe, Khyzier, and Khazmir, honoring their lives and the love they shared with those around them.
