Cowboys Corner: Should We Trust Jerry Jones? Is It Time to Panic? What’s Going on with CeeDee Lamb?

Dallas Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has expressed his unwavering support for the team despite their stuttering start to the season, which has seen them win just one of their opening three games. After the home defeat to the Baltimore Ravens, Jones refused to criticise the team’s weak spots and showed no concern over their slow start. As the Cowboys prepare for a pivotal game against the New York Giants, Cowboys’ flaws have been notably exposed, leaving fans and critics anxious about the remainder of the season.

Following a near-comeback in the fourth quarter of the Ravens’ game, opinion surrounding the team’s chances has remained divided. Reporter Ralph Vacchiano argues that the rally built confidence for some key players, including Dak Prescott, but overall the points were meaningless. He criticised the team’s inability to run or stop the run. David Helman, however, contended that the rally should not be taken lightly, insisting that the team has to find a more balanced approach to their games.

Both New York Giants and Dallas Cowboys have had lacklustre starts to the season with identically disappointing 1-2 records. However, Helman states that this week’s game will shed light on the real state of the struggling Cowboys. He points to issues in defence and with Dak Prescott’s performance. Vacchiano agrees the gap between both teams has closed slightly but still favours the Cowboys’ depth over the Giants, predicting a less brutal game than last season’s matchups.

Recent defeats have led to questions on whether other teams have found the key to beating the Cowboys. Vacchiano certainly thinks so – that the Cowboys’ weak spots lie in their inability to either run or stop the run. Helman, however, hopes that the Giants cannot copy the success of the Saints and Ravens, warning that if they do, the Cowboys will face considerable downfall.

After a quiet start to the season, CeeDee Lamb’s underperformance has shown potential problems for the Cowboys. Helman acknowledges that Lamb is getting back into game form, but also expresses worry about the lack of alternatives and the defence’s focus on Lamb. Vacchiano attributes Lamb’s slow start to his summer-long holdout and is confident that he will bounce back and have a good season.

Finally, Jerry Jones’s resolute commitment to the current team as opposed to seeking trades has been questioned. Vacchiano starkly criticises Jones, arguing that the team is not strong enough to compete for the Super Bowl and needs new additions. Jones should aim for trades such as with Carolina’s running back Miles Sanders. Helman, while not as harsh, agrees that Jones could reverse his decision if the team continues its poor run. He expects that the Cowboys may add a running back or a defensive tackle in the near future.
