Second California mansion owned by John Middleton’s son, owner of the Philadelphia Phillies, covered in graffiti and abandoned

John Powers Middleton, the son of billionaire and Philadelphia Phillies owner John S. Middleton, owns two mansions in California that have been abandoned and have become targets for vandals. The properties, one on Sunset Plaza and the other on Mulholland Drive in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood, have been taken over by squatters over the years, leading to them being covered in graffiti. Despite attempts to address the issue, including repainting one of the houses, the vandalism continues to be a problem.

The neglected houses owned by Middleton have become an eyesore in the upscale neighborhood and have raised security concerns among neighbors. Both properties have attracted vandals and squatters, with incidents such as an armed man squatting in one of the mansions with his dog and another group of squatters causing significant damage to the property. The original owner of the Sunset Plaza mansion reportedly cared for the property meticulously, leaving a legacy of a well-maintained home that has now fallen into disrepair.

Middleton’s other mansion, estimated to be worth $6.53 million, has also been a source of trouble, with a lien issued on the property after he defaulted on property taxes. Ten people were recently removed from the home, and police have been called to the property multiple times in September alone. The local council member has criticized Middleton for his poor handling of the properties, stating that he is in violation of the law and that irresponsible property owners must be held accountable.

Neighbors in the Hollywood Hills neighborhood where the mansions are located have expressed their disappointment and concern over the state of the properties. The once well-maintained homes have now become symbols of neglect and vandalism, affecting the community’s safety and well-being. Middleton’s failure to address the issues with his properties has led to frustration among local residents, who are calling for action to be taken to address the problem.

Efforts to address the ongoing vandalism and squatting issues at Middleton’s properties have been ineffective, with new incidents of graffiti and damage occurring shortly after attempts to restore the homes. Middleton’s failure to maintain the properties has resulted in a situation that poses serious consequences for the neighborhood and surrounding community. The city councilmember has warned Middleton that he must take responsibility for his properties or face consequences from the city for his disregard of the law and his neighbors’ well-being. Neighbors and officials are calling for Middleton to take action to address the security concerns and restore the mansions to their former state of upkeep and care.
