Alaşehir district of Manisa, a student named Mert Kaymak from Kavaklıdere Neighborhood Atatürk Middle School fell to the ground while doing warm-up exercises during physical education class. The Physical Education and Sports teacher immediately intervened to the child who fell to the ground and at the same time, notified the health teams.
Health teams arriving at the school determined that Kaymak’s heart had stopped and provided initial intervention on the spot. Despite all the interventions performed at the hospital after being brought in with his heart stopped, Kaymak lost his life.
Mert Kaymak’s body was sent to İzmir Forensic Medicine Institute for autopsy. It was learned that Kaymak had a heart attack according to initial determinations.
Buried amidst tears
A funeral prayer was performed for Mert Kaymak at Kavaklıdere Yukarı Pazar Mosque. During the funeral ceremony, the mother Ayşe, father Rıfat Kaymak, and his siblings struggled to stand, and were comforted by their relatives. The sudden death of Mert Kaymak, who was one of five siblings, deeply saddened the district.
Psychological support for family and students
Following the tragic incident that occurred in front of the students at school, psychological support was provided to Mert Kaymak’s family and the students at the school. Guidance and Research Center Institution specialist personnel associated with the District National Education Directorate of Alaşehir provided psychosocial support services to the family, teachers, and students at the school.
