Maya Rudolph and Angela Bassett were among the winners at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards, with Rudolph winning her sixth career Emmy for best character voice-over for her work on “Big Mouth” and Bassett winning her first for her narration of the National Geographic show “Queens.” Rudolph, known for her work on “Saturday Night Live,” expressed her pride in being a part of the show and her emotional reaction to winning. Bassett, a two-time Oscar nominee, was attracted to the wildlife documentary project due to the all-female production team. Other winners included recently retired Pat Sajak and “Saturday Night Live” for various craft categories achievements.

Rudolph, who previously won two Emmys as a cast member on “Saturday Night Live,” is nominated for two more for her work as host of the sketch institution last season. She will be reprising her role to play Vice President Kamala Harris on the upcoming season of “SNL.” The Ron Howard-directed documentary “Jim Henson Idea Man” and “Welcome to Wrexham” also received multiple wins at the awards show. Dick Van Dyke, who turns 99 next month, humorously stole the show when his production “Dick Van Dyke 98 Years Of Magic” won best pre-recorded variety special. The top nominee of the season, “Shogun,” received an Emmy for the team that puts together the post-show featurette.

The main Emmy ceremony, hosted by Dan and Eugene Levy, is set to air on September 15 on ABC. Rudolph is also nominated in the best actress in a comedy category for her series “Loot,” alongside other popular nominees such as Jean Smart and Ayo Edebiri. Bassett expressed her joy at winning her first Emmy and her gratitude for the opportunity. “Saturday Night Live” continued its success in the craft categories, with six wins at the Creative Arts Emmy Awards. The show’s former and future stars like Rudolph have continued to excel in the industry.

Other notable winners of the night included the cast and crew of “Shark Tank” for best structured reality show, and the telecast of the Oscars which won four Emmys including best live variety special. Starring talent like Jamie Lee Curtis, Da’Vine Joy Randolph, and Ryan Gosling are also up for Creative Arts Emmys on Sunday, which will focus on scripted television. With a star-studded lineup and veteran names in the industry, the Creative Arts Emmy Awards highlighted the technical achievements and artistic talent behind some of television’s most beloved shows. The event also paid tribute to legends like Dick Van Dyke, who continues to captivate audiences with his humor and charm at 98 years old.
