Find alternate ways to watch US Open Tennis and Football since DirecTV no longer offers Disney, ESPN, and ABC

The contract dispute between Disney and DirecTV has resulted in all Disney programming channels being pulled from the DirecTV service, including ESPN, ABC, Hulu, Disney Plus, Freeform, and FX. This has impacted millions of DirecTV, DirecTV Stream, and U-verse customers who have lost access to these channels. While DirecTV is offering a billing credit to subscribers affected by the outage, there is no indication of when or if the dispute will be resolved. Last year, Spectrum TV viewers experienced a similar outage due to a licensing agreement dispute with Disney, which was ultimately resolved after 11 days.

To compensate for the loss of Disney programming channels, DirecTV subscribers could consider switching to other streaming services like YouTube TV, Hulu Plus Live TV, Fubo, or SlingTV, which all offer the major Disney channels that were removed from DirecTV. These services range in price and offer various free trials, so subscribers have options to choose from while the dispute between Disney and DirecTV continues. If a subscriber’s local ABC affiliate is not owned by Disney, they will still receive their local channel via satellite service, but not via streaming with the DirecTV app.

DirecTV subscribers affected by the outage may be eligible for a credit from the satellite TV company as a way to acknowledge the disruption and inconvenience caused by the loss of the Disney programming channels. To check if you qualify for a credit, visit DirecTV’s TV Promise page, select your TV service, enter your ZIP code, and see if you are eligible. If you qualify, you can claim your compensation through the Explore bill credits section of the TV Promise page. Reports suggest that the credit amounts to $20 and will be applied to the subscriber’s next DirecTV bill.

The timing of the contract dispute between Disney and DirecTV coincides with major sporting events like the US Open tennis tournament and the upcoming Monday Night Football season, which is frustrating for sports fans who rely on these channels for coverage. Unlike previous licensing disputes, this year’s disagreement between Disney and DirecTV seems to run deeper, according to DirecTV CFO Ray Carpenter. With no clear resolution in sight, subscribers are encouraged to explore alternative streaming options to continue accessing Disney programming while the dispute continues.

The impact of the Disney-DirecTV contract dispute extends to the availability of popular channels like ESPN, ABC, Hulu, and Disney Plus, which are no longer accessible to DirecTV subscribers. As the dispute unfolds, viewers are left wondering when these channels will return to DirecTV and if the situation will be resolved in a timely manner. In the meantime, subscribers have the option to seek compensation through a billing credit from DirecTV and explore alternative streaming services to access their favorite Disney programming during the outage.
