2024 College Football Week 1 Action Report: ‘Clemson Needs to Step Up’

The US college football season is back, with plenty of intrigue around Week 1 matchups, including Coach Deion Sanders and his Colorado Buffaloes hosting the North Dakota State Championship contenders. Football trading expert Joey Feazel reveals Colorado Buffaloes are attracting consistent betting action, though not as much as last year. He also anticipates a decision when it comes to the match between Georgia and Clemson. Georgia opened strong at the sportsbooks, but a few dips reveal the opportunity for Clemson to show up and lose by less.

College football betting expert Paul Stone is looking at the total for the Clemson-Georgia game. He predicts a low-scoring game due to Clemson’s lack of downfield passing and Georgia’s loss of key players. However, he tips Colorado to spring an upset on Texas due to vulnerabilities in the Longhorns’ defense. Encouragingly, Stone sees Notre Dame pulling off an away win at Texas A&M due to an uptick at the quarterback position.

In terms of the game between Notre Dame and Texas A&M, oddsmakers favored Notre Dame early on, but betting is now indicating an Aggies win by 3 or more. The shifting dynamics between public perception and the sportsbook odds suggest an interesting battle between pros and amateurs.

The season opener in Morgantown between West Virginia and Penn State is also attracting attention. The betting splits for this match are interesting, with Penn State favored in wagers but the money evenly distributed. The Sunday night game at Las Vegas’s Allegiant Stadium—where LSU meets USC—is also heating up. The loss of key quarterbacks from both teams is a significant factor, but heavy betting on LSU is expected, with the team currently favored by 4.5 points.

Looking ahead to the game in Boulder, Colorado is a favorite for bookmakers and punters alike. Early betting suggests the sharps see 10 as arching over for Colorado, but this may well change come kickoff. Other notable bets include Georgia and Colorado to win the College Football Playoff, bringing potential massive profits to those who’ve backed them.

Big bets are already starting to flow in the college football odds markets. Some fascinating ones at Caesars Sports include significant wagers on Georgia and Colorado to win the CFP. However, bettors are reminded to never bet more than they can afford to lose—providing a crucial reminder as the thrilling opening weekend of college football gets underway.
