Singaporean couple faces charges in Johor for trafficking over 3kg of drugs

A Singaporean man and his Malaysian girlfriend were charged in Johor with trafficking more than 3kg worth of drugs, setting up a drug processing laboratory in a terrace house in Johor, distributing drugs in Malaysia and neighbouring countries. They were believed to be producing vape liquid containing drugs and distributing drugs in small quantities through syndicate members who act as runners. The couple was arrested during raids by the Malaysian police on Aug 17. Ong was arrested first at a house containing various equipment, tools, and chemicals to process drugs. Wang was subsequently taken by police at a roadside in Taman Setia Indah, leading to the seizure of more than RM2 million worth of drugs including ecstasy powder, ecstasy liquid, erimin 5 pills, ecstasy pills, and syabu.

Cash worth about RM130,000 and S$100 were also seized alongside drug processing equipment, precursor chemicals used in processing, a car, jewelry, and three bank accounts with a total value of RM630,596. The couple tested positive for drugs after their arrest and were jointly charged with trafficking methamphetamine and MDMA powder on Aug 17. They were also charged with possessing nimetazepam and MDMA in liquid form on the same day. Wang was separately charged with two counts of trafficking more than 1kg of MDMA on Aug 17. If convicted, they face life imprisonment or the death penalty.

The couple’s arrest involved the seizure of a large quantity of drugs, drug processing equipment, precursor chemicals, cash, and other assets. The drugs seized included ecstasy powder, ecstasy liquid, erimin 5 pills, ecstasy pills, and syabu. If convicted, they face severe penalties such as life imprisonment or the death penalty.
