ISTANBUL – Istanbul Counterterrorism and Intelligence Branch teams have launched an operation against individuals who chanted slogans in support of the PKK terrorist organization during a football tournament held in Esenyurt on August 18th.
The teams conducted operations at 8 different addresses in 4 districts of Istanbul.
6 suspects, including DEM Party Esenyurt district executives, were detained in the operations.
After the necessary procedures at the police station, 3 of the suspects were arrested, while 3 others, including the district presidents, were released under judicial control.
The operation was carried out as part of the ongoing efforts to combat terrorism and ensure public safety in Istanbul. The individuals who were detained are suspected of spreading propaganda for a terrorist organization and disturbing the peace during the football tournament in Esenyurt.
The Turkish authorities have been vigilant in their efforts to crack down on terrorist activities and maintain security in the country.
