The search for an Indian tourist who fell into a sinkhole in Kuala Lumpur’s city center on Friday continued into its third day on Sunday. The 48-year-old woman was walking on a pavement when suddenly the ground gave way, causing her to fall into the 8m-deep sinkhole. A search-and-rescue operation was immediately launched to find the woman, but was briefly halted on Saturday due to a lack of new leads before resuming on Sunday morning.

Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim extended his sympathies and condolences to the family of the missing woman on Sunday. He instructed the Kuala Lumpur City Hall to meet with them and offer support during this difficult time. The prime minister noted that the search-and-rescue mission was ongoing, and that issues with the unstable soil in the area needed to be addressed before the woman could be located.

Authorities had previously inspected all six manholes along the route from Jalan Masjid India, where the incident occurred, to a sewerage pond in Pantai Dalam in hopes of finding the missing woman. However, apart from a pair of slippers belonging to her, no other signs of her whereabouts were discovered along the pathway. The search efforts continued as rescue teams worked to navigate the challenging terrain in their efforts to locate the woman.

With the search entering its third day, concerns were growing about the safety and condition of the missing woman. The deep sinkhole and unstable soil posed challenges to the search-and-rescue operation as authorities worked tirelessly to locate the victim. Despite facing difficulties due to the circumstances of the incident, rescue teams remained committed to finding the missing woman and bringing her to safety.

The community and authorities rallied together to support the efforts of the search-and-rescue operation, with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim leading the government’s response to the incident. The tragic incident underscored the importance of safety measures in public spaces to prevent similar accidents from occurring in the future. As the search continued, the family and loved ones of the missing woman awaited news of her whereabouts and hoped for a safe and successful rescue operation.

As the search for the missing Indian tourist continued, the plight of the woman captured the attention of the nation and highlighted the dangers of sinkholes and unstable ground in urban areas. The ongoing efforts of the search-and-rescue teams, the support of the authorities, and the resilience of the family showcased the unity and determination of the community in times of crisis. With the search expanding and efforts intensifying, the hope remained that the missing woman would be found safe and brought to safety.
