The incident occurred in the city of Donetsk, which has been the site of intense fighting between pro-Russian separatists and Ukrainian forces. The safety adviser, whose identity has not been disclosed, was reported missing after the hotel he was staying in was struck by a projectile. Two other members of the Reuters team, whose names were also not disclosed, were injured in the attack.

The safety adviser had been working with the Reuters journalists to report on the conflict in eastern Ukraine. The team was staying at the hotel in Donetsk, which is a major hub for journalists covering the ongoing unrest in the region. The exact circumstances of the strike on the hotel are not yet clear, but it is believed to have been part of the ongoing violence in the area.

The injured journalists were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, and their conditions were reported to be stable. Reuters has called for the immediate release of their missing safety adviser and expressed concern for his safety. The news agency has also called for a full investigation into the incident to determine how and why the hotel was targeted.

The conflict in eastern Ukraine has been ongoing since 2014, when pro-Russian separatists seized control of several key cities in the region. The fighting has resulted in thousands of deaths and displaced countless civilians. The Reuters team was in Donetsk to report on the latest developments in the conflict and provide updates to the international community.

Journalists working in conflict zones often face dangerous conditions and threats to their safety. The incident in Donetsk serves as a grim reminder of the risks that reporters take to bring important stories to the public. The safety adviser who is missing, as well as the journalists who were injured, are all dedicated professionals who put themselves in harm’s way to report on events in the region.

Reuters has called for an immediate end to the violence in eastern Ukraine and for all parties involved in the conflict to respect the safety of journalists and media personnel. The news agency has pledged to continue reporting on the situation in the region despite the risks involved. The missing safety adviser, as well as the injured journalists, are in the thoughts of their colleagues and the wider journalism community as they await further news on their whereabouts and conditions.
