Introducing the Latest Walmart+ Benefit: Enjoy Free Whoppers and Burger King Discounts

Walmart has partnered with Burger King to provide members of its Walmart+ subscription program with a 25% discount on Burger King orders and free Whoppers every three months. This is an effort to compete with Amazon Prime by offering similar perks such as free shipping and same-day grocery delivery while keeping the annual price of Walmart+ lower than Prime’s. The goal is to match Amazon’s dominance in the market by adding benefits like this partnership with Burger King.

The partnership with Burger King is a way for the fast-food chain to attract customers who may be looking for more affordable options in light of rising prices in the industry. Walmart describes the benefit as a way to save time and money for its members who lead busy lives and may not always have the time to grocery shop, meal plan, or cook. This partnership is seen as a practical and cost-effective solution to accommodate dining preferences and busy schedules.

To access the deals with Burger King, Walmart+ members will need to link their accounts with a free Burger King Royal Perks profile, and the discount can only be applied to orders made through the Burger King app. The free Whopper benefit will start in September, while the 25% discount begins immediately. This partnership is part of Walmart’s strategy to compete with Amazon Prime and attract more members to its subscription program.

While Amazon and Walmart do not disclose specific membership numbers for their subscription programs, third-party analysis suggests that Walmart has significantly fewer members compared to Amazon. Amazon currently has 184 million members in the US, while Walmart has 29 million members. This partnership with Burger King is one of the ways that Walmart is trying to grow its membership base and compete with Amazon in the e-commerce and subscription market.

Two years ago, Amazon partnered with GrubHub to offer free subscriptions to Prime members. This deal was recently extended, showing that partnerships between e-commerce and food delivery services are becoming more common in the industry. The collaboration between Walmart and Burger King is another example of this trend and demonstrates how companies are looking to team up to offer more value to their customers and attract new membership to their respective subscription programs. By providing additional benefits and discounts, companies hope to differentiate themselves and stand out in a competitive market.
