Demonstrators chanted “Free, free Palestine” and waved Palestinian flags as they tried to break through a line of police officers in riot gear. Videos showed police shoving and tackling protesters before taking them into custody, with multiple arrests made. Some protesters also burned American flags in the street during the clashes.
Schumer criticized Donald Trump for peddling antisemitic stereotypes and inviting a white supremacist, Nick Fuentes, to Mar-a-Lago. Trump later claimed he had no idea about Fuentes’ views prior to the dinner. Schumer also accused Trump of fueling Islamophobia and issuing a Muslim ban during his presidency. Schumer emphasized his desire for his grandchildren and all grandchildren to never face discrimination based on who they are, conveying the importance of voting for candidates who stand against such prejudice.
