A tragic accident occurred on the Batman-Kozluk highway in the village of Samanyolu during the afternoon. A truck driven by M.Ş.A. (45) collided head-on with a van driven by Medeni İba (52) on the road, which had been reduced to one lane due to construction work.
In the accident, members of the same family, Medeni İba, Remziye İba, Neslihan İba (18) and Mensuriye Güler, lost their lives. Following the incident, health, gendarmerie, UMKE, AFAD, and fire brigade teams were dispatched to the scene.
The bodies were taken to the Batman Training and Research Hospital for an autopsy. It was revealed that Medeni and Remziye İba were on their way to the town of Nusaybin in Mardin for their daughter’s wedding. The driver M.Ş.A., who sustained minor injuries in the accident, was taken into custody after receiving treatment, and an investigation into the accident is ongoing.
