The manhunt for convicted murderer Ramone Jamarr Alston, also known as the “Christmas Day Killer,” has entered its second day in North Carolina. Orange County Sheriff Charles Blackwood described Alston as extremely dangerous and elusive, with a troubled past involving criminal activity since his youth. Alston escaped custody while being transported to a hospital, where he was serving a life sentence for the 2015 murder of 1-year-old Maleah Williams. Authorities are offering a reward of $35,000 for information leading to his capture, as they have no concrete leads on his whereabouts.

Sheriff Blackwood reported that Alston may have cut his dreadlocks and modified his appearance after escaping, but they cannot confirm this. He described Alston’s distinctive tattoos, including the word “Flame” with a star on his chest and “niece” on his right arm, as well as his clothing at the time of escape. Alston was still in handcuffs connected to a chain around his waist when he was last seen running into the woods near the hospital. The correction officers’ firearms were secured in a box in the transport vehicle when Alston fled, complicating the search for him.

Alston’s criminal history includes involvement in a drive-by shooting in Chapel Hill in 2015, during which he and another gunman shot into an apartment complex and fatally struck Maleah Williams in the head as she was being held by her mother. The sheriff highlighted the urgency of capturing Alston, emphasizing the danger he poses to the community. Law enforcement is urging anyone with information or home security footage in the area to come forward and assist in the search.

Authorities were expected to provide an update on the manhunt for Alston by 4 p.m. on Wednesday. Sheriff Blackwood expressed concern for the safety of the public and the law enforcement officers involved in the search, given Alston’s history of violence and evasion. He emphasized the need for community cooperation in locating and apprehending Alston, as well as the potential dangers of encountering him. The $35,000 reward for information leading to Alston’s capture underscores the seriousness of the situation and the importance of his swift apprehension.

As the manhunt for Ramone Jamarr Alston, the “Christmas Day Killer,” continues in North Carolina, authorities are working diligently to track down the dangerous escaped convict. Sheriff Blackwood’s warning about Alston’s past criminal behavior and his current escape underscores the urgency of locating him before he poses a threat to the public. With the reward for information leading to his capture and the community’s assistance in providing potential leads, law enforcement hopes to apprehend Alston swiftly and bring peace to the affected families and community members.
