President Volodymyr Zelenskyy of Ukraine has announced that Ukrainian forces now control 74 communities in the Russian city of Kursk. He emphasized the importance of utilizing these territorial gains to defend Ukrainian interests and independence. Zelenskyy expressed gratitude to the soldiers and commanders involved in the offensive and reassured that Russian servicemen who surrendered will be treated humanely. The focus is on defending all border communities and frontline areas, including Donetsk, Kharkiv, and the South. The incursion into Russia, which began eight days ago, caught Russian forces off guard, leading to over 100,000 Russian civilians fleeing the region.

The Governor of Russia’s Belgorad region has declared a state of emergency as Ukrainian forces continue to attack the area. Russian Defense Ministry claims to have stopped Ukrainian armored groups from moving further into Russia near Kursk settlements using various military units, including fresh reserves, aircraft, drones, and artillery. The Kremlin has criticized Ukraine’s western allies for not condemning the assault and accused Ukrainian forces of killing civilians. Russian President Vladimir Putin believes Ukraine’s attack is an attempt to stop Moscow’s offensive in eastern Ukraine while gaining leverage in future peace talks. Despite this, Putin claims the assault has failed to cause public unrest in Russia, and the number of volunteers joining the Russian military has increased.

The Ukrainian Foreign Ministry defends the cross-border operation, stating it was aimed at protecting Ukrainian land from long-range strikes launched from Kursk. They accuse Russia of launching over 2,000 strikes from the region in recent months using various weapons, including anti-aircraft missiles, artillery, mortars, drones, glide bombs, and missiles. Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spokesman Heorhii Tykhyi believes that Ukraine’s actions were necessary to protect its territory from Russian aggression. Ukraine’s incursion into Russia is unprecedented in its use of military units on Russian soil and has caused significant disruption in the region.

Zelenskyy’s speech highlighted the capabilities and determination of Ukrainians in achieving their goals and defending their interests. The control of 74 communities in Kursk demonstrates Ukraine’s ability to effectively utilize its military forces in securing and expanding territory. The President emphasized the need to maintain a strong defense in all frontline areas and border communities, including Donetsk, Kharkiv, and the South. The success of Ukraine’s offensive in Kursk has put pressure on Russian forces and led to a significant number of civilians fleeing the region.

The conflict between Ukraine and Russia has escalated, with the Governor of Russia’s Belgorad region declaring a state of emergency due to ongoing attacks from Ukrainian forces. The Russian Defense Ministry claims to have halted Ukrainian armored groups from advancing into Russia near Kursk settlements using a combination of military units. The Kremlin has criticized Ukraine’s allies for not condemning the assault, while Putin believes the attack is an attempt to thwart Moscow’s offensive in eastern Ukraine and gain leverage in possible peace talks. Despite the criticism, Ukraine defends its actions as necessary to protect its territory from Russian aggression.

In conclusion, Ukraine’s incursion into the Russian city of Kursk has resulted in the control of 74 communities, signaling a significant territorial gain for Ukrainian forces. President Zelenskyy has praised the soldiers involved in the offensive and highlighted the importance of defending Ukrainian interests and independence. The conflict has caused a mass exodus of Russian civilians from the region, prompting the Governor of Russia’s Belgorad region to declare a state of emergency. The situation remains tense, with the Russian Defense Ministry claiming to have stopped Ukrainian armored groups from advancing further into Russia. The Kremlin has criticized Ukraine’s allies for their response to the assault, while Ukraine defends its actions as necessary to protect its territory from Russian aggression.
