Lizzo Declares She’s Fed Up with Online Criticism: ‘I’m Done’

Lizzo recently announced on Instagram that she is quitting the music business due to the negativity she faces in her personal life and on the internet. She expressed a desire to focus on making music, making people happy, and making the world a better place. Lizzo also addressed feeling like the world doesn’t want her in it due to the lies being told about her, particularly in light of recent lawsuits filed against her for alleged sexual harassment and creating a hostile work environment. The singer cited feeling tired of being the butt of jokes and having her character picked apart, leading to her decision to quit.

In a recent interview, Lizzo discussed her new clothing line and her approach to body positivity. She revealed that she has been slowly losing weight and prioritizing self-care while not touring. Lizzo admitted that her feelings about her body change daily and discussed moving towards a mindset of body neutrality rather than traditional body positivity. Despite these personal struggles, she continues to focus on her music and clothing brand, Yitty, and is trying to navigate the challenges she faces in the public eye.

Lizzo’s legal troubles include a lawsuit filed by three of her former backup dancers, who accused her of creating a hostile work environment and sexual harassment. Lizzo has denied all allegations against her in the suit and is fighting the accusations in court. A judge recently denied her request to dismiss the lawsuit but did throw out some of the dancers’ claims, including an accusation that Lizzo fat-shamed one of her dancers. Her team remains confident that they will prevail in the legal battle and are planning to appeal the remaining elements that were not dismissed.

Another lawsuit filed against Lizzo by fashion designer Asha Daniels alleges that the musician allowed bullying, harassment, and racial discrimination on her tour. Daniels claimed that wardrobe manager Amanda Nomura made offensive comments and forced performers to change in front of a male stage crew that would inappropriately watch them. Lizzo’s spokesperson dismissed the lawsuit as a publicity stunt and indicated that they were not taking it seriously. The legal challenges add to the stress that Lizzo is facing as she tries to navigate her personal and professional life in the public eye.

Despite the legal challenges and negative attention, Lizzo has recently been involved in political activism, including a fundraiser for President Joe Biden in New York City. She continues to use her platform to advocate for important causes and connect with her fans through her music and clothing line. Lizzo’s decision to quit the music industry may be a temporary response to the challenges she is facing, and she may ultimately decide to continue making music and spreading positivity in the world. The singer’s journey towards self-care and body neutrality reflects a shift in her mindset as she navigates the complexities of fame and public scrutiny.
