According to a statement from the Provincial Police Department, the Smuggling and Organized Crime Unit (KOM) teams identified fake detergent in two warehouses in the city. After conducting a raid on the address, the teams seized 50 tons of counterfeit powdered detergent. Four suspects were taken into custody during the operation. Investigations revealed that the powdered detergents were brought in Mersin in bags resembling salt bags and packaged with the packaging of a certain brand.

During the interrogation at the police station, the suspects claimed that the products belonged to someone else and that after the packaging process, the detergents were taken abroad. The police are continuing their investigation to determine the exact origins of the counterfeit detergent and how they were able to enter the market in such large quantities.

Counterfeit products pose a serious threat to consumers as they may contain harmful chemicals that can cause skin irritation or other health issues. Authorities urge the public to be cautious when purchasing goods and to always buy from trusted sources to avoid falling victim to such illegal activities.

The Police Department emphasized that they will continue their efforts to crack down on illegal activities such as smuggling and organized crime. They have also issued a warning to those involved in such activities, stating that they will be held accountable for their actions and face legal consequences.

In recent years, there has been an increase in the production and distribution of counterfeit goods, including detergents, in various parts of the country. These illegal activities not only harm the economy but also pose a risk to public health and safety.

The Provincial Police Department has urged the public to report any suspicious activities or products to help in the fight against crime. They also advised consumers to carefully check the packaging and labels of products before making a purchase to avoid falling victim to counterfeit goods.
