Five wildfires in the wild forest

A fire broke out in a forested area in Yumaklar neighborhood of Serik district. The fire grew due to the influence of the wind. A large number of teams were dispatched to the scene. To be able to control the flames, intervention from the air and ground was initiated. Eight planes, six helicopters, 70 land vehicles, 11 water supply vehicles, 5 construction vehicles, and numerous firefighters are combating the fire. Antalya Governor Hulusi Şahin informed the press that the fire started in Yumaklar, a district of Serik.

The investigation conducted by the gendarmerie suggested that the fire is believed to have started from a fallen electricity pole. Governor Şahin noted that further investigations will be conducted. He mentioned the rapid spread of the fire towards the south and east due to the wind, low humidity, and extreme heat. Approximately 60 hectares of land were damaged, and as a precautionary measure, 30 houses were evacuated. The fire caused damage to a planted area, and assessment teams will inspect for further damages after the fire is extinguished.

In Yalova, fires in Kapaklı and Keçikayalıkları areas were brought under control by forestry and fire brigade teams. Two helicopters, 10 land vehicles, 2 water supply vehicles, and 3 fire trucks intervened to control the fires. Cooling efforts are ongoing in the region. In Armutlu, the authorities praised the efforts of the teams in swiftly tackling a fire that had the potential to endanger a settlement area and a holiday village. Extensive firefighting efforts prevented serious damage.

In Gaziantep, a fire broke out in the Dülükbaba Forest area in Şehitkamil district. Various teams, including forestry management and municipal firefighters, responded to the fire. With the coordinated efforts of 150 vehicles, nearly 1000 personnel, and a helicopter, the fire was brought under control. Investigations are underway to determine the cause of the fire.

In Kahramanmaraş, a fire near the Fırnız Picnic Area led to the evacuation of residents. Forestry teams deployed 6 helicopters, 2 planes, 11 land vehicles, and other equipment to combat the fire. Authorities praised the efforts of the teams in swiftly responding to the fire. The fire resulted in approximately 80 hectares of land damage.

In İzmir, a fire erupted in a forested area in Kavacık neighborhood. İzmir’s Forestry Regional Directorate utilized 2 planes, 4 helicopters, 35 land vehicles, and other equipment to extinguish the fire. The fire was brought under control, and cooling efforts are ongoing. Jandarma teams are actively supporting the firefighting efforts in the region.
