Celebrating furry, feathered, and woolly animal friends, Newsweek’s Pet of the Week feature highlights pets and their unique personalities. Readers are encouraged to submit their own pets for a chance to be featured in the segment. This week’s Pet of the Week is Pixie, a senior dog known for her talkative nature. Pixie’s owner, Beth Reisberg, shared a video of the 10-year-old dog howling and chatting, showcasing her lively personality. Reisberg explained that Pixie was a stray dog who was likely abandoned due to a cancerous mammary growth, but has since recovered and become a beloved member of her family.

The first finalists for Pet of the Week are Ashke and Spotty, two cats owned by Sarah Smith. Tabby Ashke has shown remarkable ability to recognize and alert Smith to her non-epileptic seizures, while Spotty provides endless amusement with his playful antics. Smith described the two cats as the bright spot in her life, highlighting the joy and laughter they bring to her home. These feline finalists demonstrate the special bond between pets and their owners, showcasing the unique ways in which animals enrich our lives.

Another finalist for Pet of the Week is Fozzy, an 11-year-old Cockapoo owned by Jennifer Henry. Fozzy has epilepsy and has learned to recognize the signs of an impending seizure, seeking comfort and support from his owners when needed. Despite his health challenges, Fozzy remains a central figure in Henry’s life, bringing joy and companionship to her household. His story is a testament to the resilience and intelligence of animals, showing how they adapt and thrive in the face of adversity.

Tubby, a dog with 22 toes and deafness, is the final featured pet of the week. Owned by Natalie Sloan, Tubby is described as a lovable and social dog who enjoys participating in Mardi Gras celebrations and spending time with his feline friend. Tubby’s unique physical characteristics add to his charm, making him a standout pet with a vibrant personality. These diverse pets showcased in Pet of the Week offer a glimpse into the special bond between animals and their human companions, highlighting the joy, humor, and love they bring into our lives.

Newsweek’s commitment to challenging conventional wisdom and fostering connections is reflected in the Pet of the Week feature, which celebrates the unique qualities of pets and the relationships they share with their owners. By inviting readers to share stories and photos of their pets, Newsweek creates a platform for pet lovers to connect and celebrate the joy and companionship that animals bring into our lives. The Pet of the Week segment serves as a reminder of the positive impact that pets have on our well-being, enriching our lives with their unconditional love and playful personalities. Whether furry, feathered, or woolly, pets hold a special place in our hearts, and Newsweek’s Pet of the Week feature honors that bond.
