FEC Complaint Filed by Trump Team Alleging ‘Brazen Money Grab’ in Transfer of Biden’s $91M to Harris Campaign

Former President Trump’s campaign has filed a complaint with the FEC accusing President Biden and Vice President Kamala Harris of violating campaign finance laws. The complaint alleges that Harris is attempting to take $91 million in fundraising cash that was originally raised for Biden’s campaign. David Warrington, the general counsel for the Trump campaign, called this a “brazen money grab” and the largest campaign finance violation in American history. The complaint argues that Harris is not following federal law by amending Biden’s campaign forms to indicate that his funds are now being used for her campaign.

The complaint includes accusations against Biden, Harris, “Biden for President (aka Harris for President), and Keana Spencer, the treasurer, for violating campaign finance laws. The Trump campaign argues that Harris needed to file a Statement of Candidacy and have her name appear in the name of her authorized committee if she plans to run in 2024. However, her name does not appear on the committee’s name, and no Statement of Candidacy existed for her until Biden dropped out on Sunday. The Harris campaign has dismissed the complaint as baseless and states that they will continue to focus on building their campaign infrastructure and winning the election.

Harris’ campaign has achieved a fundraising milestone, raising over $100 million since she launched her candidacy following Biden’s exit from the race. Biden’s fundraising had dwindled following a poor debate performance, leading to his decision to withdraw from the race. Harris has been quick to take advantage of this fundraising success and has been actively campaigning with more than 250 coordinated offices and over 1,300 coordinated staffers across battleground states. Despite baseless legal claims from the opposition, Harris remains focused on building momentum for her campaign and engaging with voters to secure the election victory.

In her first speech after becoming the Democratic nominee, Harris addressed members of the Biden campaign, assuring them that she needed their continued support for the upcoming election. With the election just over 100 days away, Harris emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong campaign team to secure victory on November 5th. The Harris campaign has been successful in recruiting volunteers, raising funds, and energizing supporters to defeat Donald Trump and his allies. Despite legal challenges and distractions, the campaign remains focused on its goal of winning the election and continuing to build momentum in key battleground states.
