The General Directorate of Cultural Heritage and Museums announced on their social media account that the fire that broke out in Behramkale village in Çanakkale’s Ayvacık district around 16.30 has been brought under control and cooling efforts are ongoing.
The statement emphasized that there were no negative impacts on cultural assets in the Assos archaeological site due to the fire. However, in order to facilitate the ongoing work and conduct necessary assessments at the site, the Assos archaeological site will be closed to visitors on June 27-29.
