Recently, Francia Raísa’s reproductive system diagnosis has taken a serious turn

Francia Raísa, the 35-year-old actress, recently shared with her Instagram followers that her diagnosis of polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) has taken a serious turn. PCOS is a hormone problem common among women of childbearing age that can result in irregular menstrual periods, infertility, weight gain, excess hair growth, and acne. People with PCOS may not ovulate, have high levels of androgens, and develop small cysts on their ovaries. Raísa revealed that after years of confusing symptoms and visiting multiple doctors, she was informed by a new gynecologist that she also has small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and endometriosis, which puts her at a high risk for complicated pregnancies in the future.

Following the news of her additional diagnoses, Raísa expressed shock and frustration. SIBO, which stands for small intestinal bacterial overgrowth, can be caused by complications of diseases or surgery. While Raísa did not explain how she might have developed SIBO, it is noted that she donated one of her kidneys to Selena Gomez in 2017, who had suffered from lupus-related organ damage. Long-term side effects of kidney donation may include intestinal obstruction. Endometriosis, derived from the word “endometrium,” occurs when endometrial-type tissue is found outside of the uterus, leading to infertility, excessive menstrual cramps, abnormal menstrual flow, and pain during intercourse.

Raísa highlighted her frustration at the lack of specific research into women’s health care despite medical advancements. She expressed disappointment at the lack of understanding about how women like her can ensure a healthy life and family. Additionally, Raísa criticized the restrictions placed on women’s rights and access to critical health care, particularly mentioning the Supreme Court’s decision to overturn Roe v. Wade in June 2022, which ended the constitutional right to abortion. She believes that women’s rights, including LGBTQ+ rights, education, and immigration, are being limited, and she stands against these attacks on women’s freedom and dignity.

In response to the challenges faced by women in health care and legal restrictions on their rights, Raísa joined Vice President Kamala Harris in a fireside chat in Arizona to discuss women’s rights and reproductive freedoms. She emphasized the importance of advocacy and urged people to continue fighting for the rights of all women, including their mothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, and best friends. Raísa stressed the need for women to live with dignity and respect and called on individuals to stand up for gender equality and comprehensive healthcare access. By sharing her struggles and experiences, Raísa aims to raise awareness and support for women who face similar challenges in accessing proper healthcare and maintaining their reproductive health.
