In the world of tech this week, Microsoft’s AI-powered Copilot is under scrutiny for its effectiveness and concerns about privacy and data security. Tony Phillips from How-To Geek shared his reservations about adopting Copilot in their productivity suite, questioning the accuracy and functionality of the AI tool. This highlights the importance of thoroughly evaluating new technologies before integrating them into business operations to avoid potential issues and maintain productivity.

Furthermore, a report from software company Pax8 reveals how artificial intelligence is transforming the small and midsize business (SMB) landscape. The report indicates that AI plays a critical role in enhancing efficiency, data analysis, customer engagement, and overall business processes for SMBs. With 88 percent of SMBs already implementing AI systems and 96 percent planning to purchase more AI tools in the next year, it is crucial for businesses to consider the benefits and potential barriers of integrating AI into their operations.

On the hardware front, the HP Chromebook Plus x360 is making living without Windows easier than expected, according to Cesasr Cadenas from ZDNet. With its bigger screen, powerful hardware, high-end performance, and flexibility as a 2-in-1 device, the Chromebook Plus x360 is becoming a viable option for businesses looking for a versatile and efficient computing solution. This highlights the changing landscape of Chromebooks from simple online devices to full-fledged laptops that can rival traditional operating systems.

In a more humorous tech moment, McDonald’s is removing its AI drive-thru voice ordering system from over 100 restaurants after viral videos showed mishaps in customer orders. The AI technology mistakenly multiplied orders and added incorrect items, leading to inefficient customer service experiences. This serves as a reminder for businesses to thoroughly test and refine new technologies before implementing them in customer-facing operations to avoid negative publicity and customer dissatisfaction.

Lastly, engineering company Fyous has unveiled PolyMorphic moulding, the world’s first infinitely reusable manufacturing mould, that can produce parts 14 times faster than 3D printing with zero waste. This innovation aims to revolutionize manufacturing processes by accelerating product development and enhancing sustainability. For businesses in the manufacturing industry, this technology presents an opportunity to increase production efficiency and reduce waste, highlighting the ongoing advancements in tech that benefit various industries beyond the tech giants.
