A fire broke out in a single-storey house in the Satilar neighborhood of Koçarlı for reasons that have not yet been determined. The fire spread to the neighboring house and then to the nearby forest.
Upon notification, fire department and forestry directorate teams were dispatched to the area.
In Pınarlı neighborhood of Bozdoğan, a fire also broke out in a house, spreading to other houses. Aircraft and helicopters were used to combat the fire along with ground intervention.
“Most of the houses are abandoned”
Aydın Governor Yakup Canbolat, who visited the neighborhood in Bozdoğan, told reporters that there were no casualties or injuries in the fires.
Canbolat continued, saying:
“In Bozdoğan, a total of 13 houses were affected. Two of them are inhabited houses, the other 11 are abandoned houses. Thankfully, we have not lost any lives in the region, but the houses suffered damage and caught fire. The fire is currently under control. Cooling efforts are ongoing. A total of 14 vehicles, including two aircraft, five fire trucks, five water tankers, and two construction machines, are intervening in the fire. A total of 70 personnel, including 20 firefighters, are also involved in the firefighting efforts. Hopefully, in half an hour, the fire will be completely extinguished, and cooling operations will continue.”
Canbolat also commented on the fire in Koçarlı, stating, “Thankfully, we have taken it under control. There was also a fire in a private property and olive grove in Nazilli, which is now under control. As of today, three fires have been intervened. There are no casualties, but there is property damage. My condolences. May God protect us from worse.”
Canbolat later went to the neighborhood café to listen to the problems of the residents.
Koçarlı
Koçarlı Deputy District Governor Canan Hançer Baştürk and Koçarlı Mayor Özgür Arıcı visited the neighborhood where the houses burned to gather information about the situation.
Havva Turan, whose house burned down, hugged Arıcı and cried, saying, “I waited for this house for 35 years. My efforts are gone.” Baştürk and Arıcı promised to provide financial and moral support to Turan and other residents affected in the neighborhood.
