In a city where agriculture and animal husbandry are widespread, the highland season has opened as the snow melts in the mountains and the meadows turn green. Nomadic families have made necessary preparations and taken their flocks of sheep to the highlands. Using mules, horses, or tractors to reach the highlands, the nomads set up their tents in specific areas and feed their animals there. The provincial gendarmerie forces made efforts to make the children of nomadic families, who will spend the summer in the highlands, happy by planning activities. Under the coordination of the governorate, the teams visited the Hengirvan Highland at an altitude of 2,000 meters in the Pulumur district, which is peaceful and visited the children with gifts.
The teams that arrived in the region after hours of travel spent the day in the highlands and met with the children. They gave gifts like books and toys to the children and played games to make them happy. Mustafa Bitkin, a highlander, said he has been involved in animal husbandry since childhood. Bitkin mentioned that he goes to the highlands in summer to get better efficiency from his animals and expressed their wish for improved infrastructure for livestock in the area. Bitkin stated that even though life in the highlands is difficult, their children are luckier than those living in the city as they have access to clean water and fresh air.
He emphasized that there is now peace in the highlands, thanks to the state’s efforts and expressed gratitude for the visits from the armed forces and the gifts they brought for the children. He thanked them and welcomed them to visit more often.
Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya shared a video showing gendarmerie personnel celebrating the holiday with children in a highland in Tunceli. Yerlikaya used the opportunity to emphasize that every day when children smile, run, and play in the highlands is a holiday.
