Samsung has unveiled two new premium gaming monitors in its Odyssey range, the S32G80SD and 27G60SD. The S32G80SD is a 32-inch flat screen model with a 16:9-ratio 4K Quantum Dot OLED panel priced at $1,299.99/£1,099.99. It features a Quantum Dot OLED panel that uses pure RGB system for colors. The monitor also includes ground-breaking features such as an AI-rich NQ8 AI Gen 3 picture processor, Pulsating Heat Pipe technology, and a remarkable anti-reflection filter.
The NQ8 AI Gen 3 processor in the S32G80SD delivers better real-time results for color mapping, motion reproduction, and upscaling of sub-4K content. The Pulsating Heat Pipe technology controls screen temperature by evaporating and condensing a coolant running through a fine pipe system behind the screen to prevent image retention. The anti-reflection filter on the monitor is designed with a specialized hard-coating layer and surface coating pattern to reject ambient and direct light sources for better contrast and reduced distractions.
Both gaming and video playback are supported on the S32G80SD, which features a Tizen-based smart system with an array of video streaming apps and picture presets optimized for video content. It also includes Samsung’s Game Hub for easy access to various game sources and devices connected to the monitor. The monitor has connections for HDMI 2.1 ports and a DisplayPort supporting frame rates up to 240Hz, with an input lag of 0.03ms grey to grey for fast response times.
The Odyssey G6 series includes the 27G60SD, a 27-inch flat screen model with a QHD resolution of 2560×1440 priced at $899.99/£799.99. It shares features with the S32G80SD, including VRR support, AMD FreeSync Premium Pro system, Pulsating Heat Pump technology, and an anti-reflection filter. The monitor has a reduced screen size, resolution, and lacks the Tizen smart system and the stereo speaker system found in the G8 series. However, it supports refresh rates up to 360Hz, surpassing the G8 model’s 240Hz limit.
The new Odyssey monitors are available in the US, with the UK shipping for the G8 and G6 models set for early July and June 18 respectively. The monitors feature cutting-edge technology and innovative features aimed at enhancing the gaming and viewing experience for users.
