Bachelor creator Mike Fleiss seeking to lease his stunning $65,000-per-month seaside estate in Malibu

Mike Fleiss, creator of The Bachelor, is offering his Malibu home for rent at $65,000 a month after previously attempting to sell the property. The Mediterranean California ranch-style home, purchased for $13.8 million in 2013, boasts a four-bedroom residence on over an acre of land with stunning ocean views. The property includes amenities such as a media lounge, fire pit, swimming pool, and beach access, making it a luxurious rental option.

Despite his success with The Bachelor franchise, Fleiss left the iconic show in 2023 amid allegations of racial discrimination and bullying behavior behind the scenes. The investigation into his conduct was launched by Warner Bros. TV after multiple employees complained about his behavior, leading to a tense atmosphere on set. Producers accused Fleiss of blocking attempts to increase racial diversity in the predominantly white cast and retaliating against those who spoke up for diversity.

While some employees defended Fleiss as a supportive and inclusive leader, others were shocked by the allegations and unaware of the ongoing investigation. Fleiss’s departure from the show surprised many who worked with him, with varying reports of his behavior and leadership style. Some pointed to his promotion of Black producer Jodi Baskerville as evidence of his effort to diversify the show, while others criticized his heated creative discussions and refusal to consider more diverse casting options.

Fleiss’s departure from The Bachelor came amid heightened scrutiny of the show’s handling of racial sensitivity, particularly after a contestant’s racist actions and subsequent controversy. The franchise faced backlash over its lack of diversity in casting, with criticism mounting over the predominantly white representation on the show. While efforts were made to address these issues, including promoting people of color to prominent positions, the allegations against Fleiss cast a shadow over the show’s commitment to inclusivity.

The Bachelor franchise has taken steps to increase diversity by featuring people of color as leads on its various shows, including The Bachelorette and Bachelor in Paradise. Despite these efforts, the show continues to face criticism over its handling of race and representation. Fleiss’s departure from the series marked a significant moment in its history, prompting discussions about the importance of diversity, inclusivity, and ethical leadership in reality television programming.

Fleiss’s Malibu home, with its luxurious amenities and breathtaking views, offers a glimpse into his lifestyle outside of the entertainment industry. As he embarks on a new chapter after leaving The Bachelor behind, the rental listing serves as a reminder of the complex legacy he leaves behind. While his departure was controversial, it also sparked conversations about accountability, workplace culture, and the future of reality TV programming. The ongoing evolution of The Bachelor franchise reflects broader societal shifts towards greater diversity and representation in media and entertainment.
