During Season 11 filming, Scheana Shay says ‘Vanderpump Rules’ producer warned them of potential cancellation

The future of “Vanderpump Rules” is uncertain, with Scheana Shay revealing on her podcast that executive producer Alex Baskin had warned the cast that the show might be canceled due to its poor performance midseason. The reality star felt a lot of pressure to deliver quality content alongside her co-star Lala Kent, as they didn’t want the show to end not only for themselves but also for the crew of 80 to 100 people who work on the show. Shay expressed her frustration with Ariana Madix for leaving a group event during the season finale because she didn’t want to film with her ex, Tom Sandoval, criticizing her for not caring about the potential cancellation of the show that so many people rely on.

During the Season 11 reunion, Madix defended herself for walking away from filming with Sandoval, arguing that it was a better way to end the season and secure another paycheck for a potential new season. She emphasized the importance of according to her boundaries in her contract, choosing not to do anything that she deemed not real or did not want to do. Shay sympathized with both sides, understanding the pressure Kent felt to create compelling content while respecting Madix’s boundaries and decision to stand her ground.

Shay expressed her frustration with having to navigate between Madix’s heartache and the need to provide producers with engaging material for the show, feeling like everyone had to walk on eggshells throughout the season. An insider revealed that “Vanderpump Rules” was put on a brief pause to allow the cast to decompress after two intense seasons, with the potential for a Season 12 in the future. Andy Cohen, the Bravo honcho, seemed unconcerned about the break, comparing it to how they sometimes put filming on hold for “Real Housewives” series to allow the cast to live life, leading to new and different content upon their return to filming.

Overall, the uncertainty surrounding the future of “Vanderpump Rules” has created tension among the cast, with Shay and her co-stars feeling the pressure to deliver quality content to save the show from a potential cancellation. The conflict between different cast members regarding the filming decisions adds to the drama off-camera, as the cast navigates between respecting personal boundaries and fulfilling their obligations to the show and production team. The hiatus for the show allows everyone involved to take a break and come back refreshed, potentially with new perspectives and storylines for a future season. Despite the challenges faced by the cast, they remain hopeful for the show’s continuation and are looking forward to what the future holds for “Vanderpump Rules.”
