A 15-year-old teenager in California was among three individuals arrested for damaging a San Bernardino County Sheriff’s deputy vehicle during an illegal street takeover in Highland. Shocking footage captured a large crowd kicking and jumping on the vehicle, causing significant damage. The deputy managed to close the door and flee to safety as the mob trashed the cruiser. Investigators used phone videos shot at the scene to identify the teen as the primary suspect, who was later arrested and charged with attempted carjacking and felony vandalism.

The street takeover also saw the intersection flooded when one of the individuals opened up a fire hydrant to flood the road, making it easier for drivers to drift. The incident prompted a public official to express concern for the safety of law enforcement officers, stating that the behavior of individuals participating in such activities was disturbing. A second illegal street takeover occurred two hours after the initial incident, resulting in two more arrests before the individuals were released. Law enforcement officials warned that participating in such activities, whether as a spectator or driver, could lead to serious consequences, including jail time or causing harm to oneself or others.

After the incident in California, similar crimes occurred in Virginia, where a swarm of individuals, described as “masked tough guy wannabe thugs,” trapped a police officer inside her patrol car as they jumped on the hood and tore it apart. Another driver mowed down an officer who suffered a bruised wrist while rushing to the scene to help. One of the suspects, an 18-year-old named Ronal Urrea-Hernandez, was allegedly driving the vehicle that crashed into the officer before fleeing the scene. Additionally, a 20-year-old named Dylan Heckard was arrested after posting a selfie with a middle finger on social media, which helped police identify and locate him.

Law enforcement officials emphasized the dangerous nature of these illegal activities, stating that engaging in such behavior could result in serious consequences for individuals involved. In the case of the California teenager arrested for trying to carjack a sheriff’s deputy and vandalizing a patrol vehicle, the deputy’s decision to drive away from the scene likely prevented a violent encounter with the crowd. The suspect was apprehended and charged with serious offenses, demonstrating the impact that participating in illegal street takeovers can have on individuals’ lives. Authorities urged members of the public to refrain from participating in such activities to avoid putting themselves and others at risk of harm or legal consequences.
