The principal and two staff members at Monarch High School in Florida have been cleared of allegations and will be resuming their responsibilities following an investigation by the district’s Special Investigate Unit. The Florida statute clearly states that athletic teams or sports designated for females, women, or girls are not open to male students. It also requires that the statement of a student’s biological sex on the student’s official birth certificate is considered to have correctly stated the student’s biological sex at birth. The school faced consequences for allowing the transgender athlete to participate in 33 volleyball contests over two seasons.
