Thieves Make Off With $1.8 Million Worth of Hermès Bags in Just 43 Seconds, Caught on Video Using Trash Cans

Newly released video footage shows two thieves breaking into the Maison Wrist Aficionado store at the Setai Hotel in Miami Beach and making off with $1.8 million in Hermès bags in just 43 seconds. The thieves wore hoods and masks as they knocked the expensive bags off the shelves and into rolling garbage cans they had with them. They specifically targeted Hermès Birkin bags, highly coveted and retailing for $10,000 to $450,000 each.

After being alerted to the robbery at around 3 a.m., police found the door to the boutique propped open with the lock punched out. Eduardo Travieso Garcia, 45, was later arrested after police traced him through the license plate number of the orange Hyundai Santa Fe he drove away from the scene. The same vehicle was linked to a jewelry heist in another county earlier in the month. Garcia was charged with masked burglary of an unoccupied structure, first-degree grand theft, and unlawful use of a communications device.

Despite the arrest of Garcia, the second suspect who fled the scene in a truck carrying the stolen bags has not yet been identified or apprehended. The Miami Beach Police Department has stated that the investigation is still ongoing, and they have not released any further information about the second suspect. In total, the thieves made off with around $1.8 million worth of Hermès bags in the daring burglary at the luxurious hotel in Miami Beach.

The theft of the high-end Hermès bags was a meticulously planned heist, with the thieves spending minimal time in the store but managing to grab a large number of valuable bags. The brazen robbery was captured on video surveillance footage, showing the efficiency and speed with which the thieves executed the crime. The stolen bags are known for their exclusivity and high price tags, making them a lucrative target for thieves looking to make a quick profit.

The robbery at the Maison Wrist Aficionado store highlights the vulnerability of luxury retailers to targeted thefts of high-value merchandise. The stolen Hermès bags, with their prestigious brand name and hefty price tags, are highly sought after on the black market. The quick and calculated nature of the burglary indicates that the thieves were well-organized and had likely conducted prior surveillance of the store and its security measures. The incident serves as a cautionary tale for luxury retailers to ensure enhanced security protocols to protect their valuable inventory.

As the investigation into the robbery continues, authorities are working to identify and apprehend the second suspect involved in the theft of the Hermès bags. The arrest of one suspect, Eduardo Travieso Garcia, sheds light on the potential involvement of organized crime in the high-end theft. The stolen bags are still missing, and efforts are being made to recover the stolen merchandise and bring the perpetrators to justice. The incident serves as a stark reminder of the risks faced by luxury retailers and the need for increased vigilance and security measures to prevent such brazen thefts in the future.
