A “person of interest” has been taken into custody in connection with a sucker punch attack on actor Steve Buscemi in Manhattan. The 66-year-old actor was assaulted on Third Avenue, resulting in a black eye and bleeding. While initially identified as Clifton Williams, authorities have not confirmed if he was the one arrested. Buscemi’s spokesperson confirmed the attack and stated that he was okay and appreciated the support he received. The incident occurred on May 8 when a man approached Buscemi and punched him in the face, causing swelling and bleeding in his left eye.

Photos showed Buscemi returning to work on a film set in New York City, with his black eye concealed behind sunglasses. Witnesses reported seeing Buscemi chasing after the attacker following the assault. Surveillance images released by the police showed Williams in a blue shirt and sweatpants, carrying a backpack near the scene of the crime. The actor, known for his roles in “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Sopranos,” also has a history of volunteering with firefighters, such as his efforts at Ground Zero in the aftermath of 9/11.

In March, another “Boardwalk Empire” star, Michael Stuhlbarg, was also randomly attacked in Manhattan. Stuhlbarg was struck on the head with a rock from behind but managed to detain his assailant until the NYPD arrived. The incident involving Buscemi is part of a concerning trend of random acts of violence in New York City. Despite the attacks, both Buscemi and Stuhlbarg have shown resilience and strength in the face of adversity. The NYPD is continuing its investigation into the assault on Buscemi, with Williams currently in custody as a person of interest in the case.

Overall, the recent attack on actor Steve Buscemi in Manhattan has raised concerns about the safety of individuals in the city. The assault left Buscemi with a black eye and bleeding, prompting his spokesperson to confirm the incident and assure that he was okay. Buscemi, known for his work on popular television shows like “Boardwalk Empire” and “The Sopranos,” has also demonstrated resilience in the face of adversity, as seen in his actions following the attack. The NYPD has identified a person of interest in the case, with Clifton Williams being named as a suspect in the assault.

The incident involving Buscemi is just one of several random attacks on public figures in New York City, with another “Boardwalk Empire” star, Michael Stuhlbarg, also falling victim to a similar assault in March. Despite these incidents, both Buscemi and Stuhlbarg have shown strength and courage in the aftermath of the attacks. As the investigation continues and Williams remains in custody as a person of interest, the safety of individuals in the city remains a top priority for law enforcement. The community has rallied behind Buscemi, sending well wishes and support as he recovers from this traumatic experience.
