Beloved actor Dabney Coleman, known for roles in Yellowstone and 9 to 5, dies at 92 as daughter honors him as a ‘gift and blessing’ in touching tribute.

Dabney Coleman, a legendary actor known for his roles in classic films such as 9 to 5, Tootsie, and On Golden Pond, has passed away at the age of 92. He also starred in TV series like Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman and Boardwalk Empire. Coleman’s daughter Quincy confirmed his passing and paid tribute to his life and legacy. He had been married multiple times and had several children. In 2012, it was revealed that Coleman had been diagnosed with throat cancer, which affected his ability to speak but no longer had cancer at the time of his passing.

Born in 1932 in Texas, Coleman initially pursued a career in law before transitioning into acting at the encouragement of friends. He made his Broadway debut in 1961 and quickly began appearing in television shows such as Naked City and The Outer Limits. His first film role came in 1965 in The Slender Thread, and he went on to appear in various movies, including The Towering Inferno and Mary Hartman, Mary Hartman. Coleman often credited his distinctive mustache with changing his career by helping him stand out from other actors.

One of Coleman’s most iconic roles was in the film 9 to 5, where he played the boss opposite Dolly Parton, Lily Tomlin, and Jane Fonda. He also starred in other popular movies like On Golden Pond, Tootsie, and WarGames. Throughout his career, he appeared in a wide range of films and television shows, showcasing his versatility as an actor. Coleman also had a memorable guest appearance on the TV show Yellowstone as the father of Kevin Costner’s character.

Coleman’s talent and kindness were highlighted by those who worked with him, including Yellowstone creator Taylor Sheridan.
