An automobile driven by Eyüp Yöndem hit three pedestrians while making a turn on Ulus Avenue in Cumhuriyet Mahallesi. The vehicle first struck Sıla Cesuroğlu who was trying to cross the road, then went onto the sidewalk hitting Hamid Deghani, Muhammed Abduli, and Seyhram Huseyni.
The car eventually stopped after hitting a taxi stand. Emergency services including health, fire, and police teams were dispatched to the scene upon notification of the accident.
Two individuals who were trapped under the car were rescued by the fire brigade.
Three of the injured individuals were reported to be in serious condition after being taken to hospitals in the city.
The driver was taken into custody by the authorities.
