FBI assistance sought in investigation of South Carolina pastor’s estranged wife Mica Miller, ruled as suicide

Mica Miller, a pastor’s wife in South Carolina, was found dead in North Carolina from an apparent suicide. Her death led to allegations of abuse by her estranged husband, John Paul Miller. The local community held a “Justice for Mica” rally and called for further investigation into her death. Officials indicated that they had requested federal assistance in the case, but specific details were not provided. The local sheriff’s office confirmed that John Paul Miller was not in North Carolina at the time of Mica’s death.

Mica Miller had filed for separation from John Paul Miller in April, shortly before her death. Her family lawyer questioned the investigation findings that labeled her death as suicide and expressed concerns over the handling of the case by local authorities. They pointed out discrepancies in the evidence collection process and the lack of certain necessary tests on Mica’s body. Reports indicated that Mica had expressed fears for her safety due to incidents like deflated tires and tracking devices on her car.

Following Mica’s death, her sister and brother submitted affidavits alleging that Mica had told them she feared for her life and that her husband was abusive. They mentioned instances where Mica had filed reports with the police related to her safety concerns. However, John Paul Miller’s attorney denied these allegations, calling them baseless and harmful to his client and family. Reports suggested that Mica had documented evidence for her separation proceedings that went missing after a mental health hospitalization.

The pastor’s attorney refuted claims of abuse and allegations of grooming Mica, his wife, from a young age. He stated that Mica had mental health issues and that the reports of abuse were nonsensical. However, Mica’s family and lawyer expressed unawareness of any diagnosis of mental illness in Mica. The attorney called for an end to the spreading of false reports and unwarranted distress caused to the pastor and his family. The congregation at Solid Rock Baptist Church, where John Paul Miller worked, was informed of his temporary release from ministerial duties for healing and guidance.

The controversy surrounding Mica Miller’s death raised questions within the community about domestic abuse and the need for thorough investigations into such cases. The family and supporters of Mica urged for justice and further inquiry into the circumstances surrounding her death. The case highlighted the complexities involved in handling allegations of abuse and the challenges faced in investigating and determining the truth in such situations. The involvement of federal authorities in the investigation indicated a possible escalation of the case beyond local levels to ensure a fair and unbiased examination of the facts.
