Meghan Markle and Prince Harry express happiness during return to Africa after tumultuous 2019 visit

Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have recently completed a Nigeria tour and are in a much better place now compared to their visit to Africa in 2019. The couple expressed happiness and contentment with their family’s growth and evolution during this time. Markle, in particular, shared a heartwarming moment when their daughter, Princess Lilibet, remarked that she sees herself in her mother. The couple engaged in various activities during their stay, including visiting an Invictus Games-affiliated charity, a military hospital, participating in a panel discussion about women in leadership, and speaking to students at Lightway Academy in Abuja.

Their previous visit to Africa in 2019 had been marked with challenges, as Markle was struggling with the negative press she was receiving, especially while pregnant with their son, Archie. She expressed vulnerability and the difficulty of trying to navigate new motherhood and marriage amidst the intense scrutiny from the media. Markle revealed that she had been warned about the British tabloids potentially destroying her life before marrying Harry but did not anticipate the extent of the challenges she would face. Following this difficult period, the couple made the decision to step back from their royal duties and move to North America, eventually settling in California with their two children.

Markle’s emotional interview with ITV’s Tom Bradby shed light on the struggles she faced behind the scenes, emphasizing the lack of support she felt during a particularly vulnerable time in her life. She appreciated the concern for her well-being, as not many people had asked if she was okay amid the difficult circumstances. The couple’s decision to distance themselves from the royal family was a significant step towards prioritizing their mental health and well-being, ultimately leading to a more positive and stable environment for their family in California.

The couple’s visit to Nigeria showcased their continued commitment to important causes and engagements, such as supporting charity organizations and advocating for women in leadership. Markle’s words of encouragement to the students at Lightway Academy highlighted the importance of self-reflection and empowerment, drawing parallels between herself and the students present. Harry’s message of it being “ok not to be ok” resonated with the audience and reflected the couple’s own journey towards healing and resilience. Despite the challenges they faced in the past, Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have come a long way in establishing a sense of happiness and stability in their lives.

The couple’s decision to prioritize their mental health and well-being in the face of intense media scrutiny and family challenges has led to a stronger bond and a more positive environment for their family. Their move to North America and eventual settlement in California allowed them to create a new chapter in their lives away from the pressures of royal duties and public expectations. The support and understanding Markle and Harry have shown each other throughout their journey have been crucial in navigating difficult times and building a resilient and loving family unit for themselves and their children. Despite the strains in their relationship with Harry’s family, they have found peace and happiness in their own path.
