Since Taylor Swift launched her record-breaking The Eras Tour in March 2023, she has surprised fans by performing songs across her entire discography that are not included in the setlist. Some lucky concertgoers have witnessed special mash-ups of her famous tracks during the surprise songs set. Swift began this trend during a show in Buenos Aires, combining songs from her 1989 (Taylor’s Version) album. She has since announced that for future tour dates, all songs from her discography will be fair game for surprise song performances.

One notable mash-up included the songs “Getaway Car,” “August,” and “The Other Side of the Door.” Fans in Melbourne were treated to an acoustic performance of these three songs, all of which discuss themes of infidelity in relationships. Another mash-up featured “Come Back … Be Here” from Red (Taylor’s Version) and “Daylight” from Lover. These songs tell the tale of longing for a lost love and finding happiness in a new relationship respectively. Swift expressed her desire to continue being creative with surprise songs and not limit herself to only performing a track once.

During her time in Sydney, Swift performed mash-ups of “White Horse” and “Coney Island,” as well as “Should’ve Said No” with “You’re Not Sorry,” and “Peace” with “New Year’s Day.” These emotional tracks explore the themes of heartbreak, infidelity, and the complexities of relationships. Swift’s surprise song mash-ups have become a highlight of her shows, with fans eagerly anticipating each unique performance.

In Singapore, Swift continued to surprise fans with mash-ups of songs like “Forever & Always” with “Maroon,” “Would’ve, Could’ve, Should’ve” with “Ivy,” “Clean” with “Evermore,” and “Death By A Thousand Cuts” with “Babe.” These performances showcased Swift’s ability to create new and heartfelt interpretations of her music. Additionally, during her shows in Singapore, Swift combined tracks like “Sparks Fly” with “Gold Rush,” and “False God” with “Slut!” These mash-ups explored different aspects of relationships and intimacy in Swift’s music.

In Paris, Swift performed mash-ups of songs like “The Alchemy” with “Treacherous,” and “Begin Again” with “Paris.” These performances were memorable for fans, with many speculating about the personal meaning behind the song choices. Swift’s surprise songs have become a fan-favorite aspect of The Eras Tour, highlighting her musical talent and emotional depth in her songwriting. Fans eagerly await each show to see which songs she will choose to perform in her surprise song set.
