The festival season in Spain reaches its peak starting in May and continues for five months throughout the country. June, July, and August see the majority of the almost thousand events that take place each year in Spain, with May and September also becoming popular. In 2023, the music promoters association reported a record revenue of 578 million euros from concert ticket sales nationwide. Some of the most attended multi-artist festivals last year were Arenal Sound in Castellón, Primavera Sound in Barcelona, Viña Rock in Albacete, and Mad Cool in Madrid.

The 2024 festival season will see the consolidation of cycle festivals, which last year attracted hundreds of thousands of attendees over several weeks by featuring a different venue and headliner each day for weeks or months. Marenostrum Fuengirola in Málaga led the list, followed by Noches del Botánico in Madrid and Las Noches del Malecón in Murcia. Notable headliners for the 2024 festival circuit include Aitana, Arde Bogotá, Arcade Fire, Dua Lipa, Green Day, Lana del Rey, and more.

The festival lineup in Spain for May includes WOMAD Cáceres, Toledo Beat Festival, Las Noches del Malecón in Murcia, Cranc Festival in Mallorca, Interestelar Sevilla, and many others. In June, festivals like Palencia Sonora, Icónica Santalucía Sevilla Fest, Mallorca Live Festival, Sónar in Barcelona, Rock Imperium Festival in Cartagena, and others offer diverse lineups across different genres and locations.

July boasts festivals such as Boombastic Port Aventura, Granca Live Fest in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, Pirineos Sur in Huesca, Portamérica in Pontevedra, and Les Nits de Barcelona in Palau de Pedralbes. The summer festival season continues in August with events like Dreambeach Festival in Almería, Rototom Sunsplash in Benicàssim, and others offering a mix of music styles and lineups. The season wraps up in September with festivals like Vive Latino in Zaragoza, Granada Sound in Granada, and Brava Madrid in Madrid.

Overall, the festival scene in Spain offers a rich and diverse array of musical experiences, attracting both domestic and international attendees. With a growing number of festivals, a wide range of headliners, and a variety of genres represented, the Spanish festival season continues to be a vibrant and thriving cultural phenomenon. So, music lovers have a lot to look forward to from May through September in Spain.
