Jerry Seinfeld recently made an appearance on Dana Carvey and David Spade’s Fly on the Wall podcast where he appeared to take a jab at Howard Stern, suggesting that Stern may have invented podcasting but was no longer at the top of the game. Seinfeld praised the interview skills of Stern but questioned his comedy chops, claiming that other podcasts, including Carvey and Spade’s, were now better. He also criticized comedians who delve too deep into their personal lives instead of focusing on making people laugh.

The 70-year-old comedian’s relationship with Howard Stern goes back to the 90s when he was a frequent guest on Stern’s radio show. However, Seinfeld faced backlash in 1993 when he was criticized for dating a 17-year-old girl. Stern made jokes about the relationship, leading to a feud between the two. Despite the controversy, Seinfeld and Stern eventually reconciled, with Stern appearing on Seinfeld’s show Comedians in Cars Getting Coffee and Seinfeld returning to Stern’s show in the 2010s.

Seinfeld also made headlines when he revealed that he had considered casting Daniel Day-Lewis in his new film, Unfrosted. Seinfeld wanted Day-Lewis to play a character similar to his role in There Will Be Blood, but ultimately never reached out to him. The film features a sugar drug lord named El Sucre, who controls all of the world’s sugar. Seinfeld’s casting choices and storylines indicate the comedian’s unique comedic sensibilities and storytelling style.

During the podcast appearance, Seinfeld complimented Carvey and Spade for their chemistry and smooth delivery on the show, contrasting it with what he perceived as interruptions and lack of flow on other podcasts. Seinfeld expressed surprise at the popularity of comedian-hosted podcasts, questioning who deserves credit for recognizing the market for such content. He emphasized the importance of making people laugh over delving too deeply into personal stories to maintain audience interest and engagement.

Seinfeld’s candid comments about Stern and his dating scandal provide insight into the complexities of comedic relationships and the challenges of navigating controversial issues in the public eye. Seinfeld’s willingness to address delicate topics with humor and honesty adds depth to his persona as a comedian and entertainer. The mention of potential casting choices and character development for his film further showcases Seinfeld’s creative vision and commitment to delivering unique and engaging content for his audience.

Overall, Seinfeld’s recent podcast appearance offers a glimpse into his thoughts on the comedy world, relationships with other comedians, and creative process in filmmaking. Through his witty and insightful comments, Seinfeld continues to make an impact on the entertainment industry, showcasing his ability to blend humor with sincerity and maintain relevance in the constantly evolving landscape of comedy and media.
