The reason why Friday is our preferred day of the week revealed by astrology

Each day of the week is governed by a ruling planet, imparting its energy upon us just like the zodiac signs themselves. The days of the week are rooted in myth, both Roman and Norse. The work week begins on Monday, ruled by the moon, while each day has its own unique ruling planet and influence. Friday, ruled by Venus, is the end of the work week and a day associated with love, beauty, attraction, and enjoyment. Friday is often considered the pre-party of the weekend and a time for leisure and relaxation.

The creation of the week can be attributed back to The Bible. The concept of resting on the seventh day stems from the idea that God created the universe in six days and took a day of rest. This concept of work-life balance continues to impact modern society’s work week structure, with Monday being the first day of the work week. Other days have their own ruling planets such as Mars for Tuesday, Mercury for Wednesday, and Jupiter for Thursday. These planetary influences are believed to shape the energy and activities best suited for each day.

Friday is a day associated with Venus, the planet of love, beauty, and attraction. The word “Friday” comes from “Frigg’s-Day,” named after the Norse goddess Frigg who is associated with fertility, wedded bliss, and clairvoyance. Venus, as Frigg’s Roman counterpart, embodies sensuality and various types of pleasure beyond just sexual gratification. The day is seen as the ideal date night and a time to indulge in sensual pleasures.

Venus’s association with sensuality extends beyond sexual pleasure to include experiences that evoke pleasure and joy in everyday life. Friday is an invitation to treat the body as an altar and engage in activities that honor and celebrate physical sensations. Activities like buying flowers, enjoying fine food and wine, wearing special clothing, and embracing sensations like sunshine on the skin or enjoying a cold drink are encouraged to embody Venus’s energy.

Taking inspiration from Botticelli’s painting “The Birth of Venus,” which depicts the goddess emerging from the sea, Fridays are seen as a day to incorporate water into self-care practices. This could involve taking a bath, going for a swim, or engaging in any form of water-related activity to honor and emulate Venus’s origins. Additionally, Friday is an ideal time for practicing self-love rituals, including affirmations of beauty, worthiness, power, and deservingness in front of a mirror.
