Six men presumed dead in the collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore were remembered by loved ones as devoted husbands, fathers, and hardworking individuals who were striving to better their lives. Maynor Suazo, a member of the construction crew working on the bridge, was described as a dedicated family man who fought every day to provide for his loved ones. His brother Fredy remembered him as good-natured and always looking out for his family’s well-being. Maynor, who was from Honduras, leaves behind an 18-year-old son and a 6-year-old daughter. His family was devastated by the tragic event.

Authorities confirmed that six workers are presumed dead in the bridge collapse, turning the search-and-rescue mission into a search and recovery operation. Divers returned to the frigid waters of the Patapsco River to search for bodies. Maria del Carmen Castellon, the wife of worker Miguel Luna, expressed desperation for news about her husband. Luna, who was from El Salvador and had been living in Maryland for over 19 years, was described by CASA, a nonprofit organization that provides services to immigrants, as a longtime member of their family. Luna’s family was devastated by the tragic events.

At least two of the men presumed dead in the bridge collapse were from Mexico. The Mexican government announced plans to provide assistance to the family members of the deceased, as well as to a Mexican national who was rescued alive from the wreckage. Maryland Governor Wes Moore pledged to mobilize every resource to bring closure to the families affected by the tragedy. Suazo’s brother-in-law mentioned that Suazo leaves behind a great legacy that will be remembered by all who knew him.

Family members of the victims are struggling to come to terms with the loss of their loved ones and are anxiously awaiting any news about the recovery efforts. Norma Suazo, Maynor’s sister, expressed that her brother fought for their family’s well-being and worked hard to make a living. She described him as a source of strength for the family. It is a devastating blow for the families of the workers who were simply trying to fulfill their dreams and provide for their loved ones.

The collapse of the Francis Scott Key Bridge has left a community in mourning, as residents and organizations grapple with the tragic loss of the workers. The impact of the tragedy has reverberated across borders, with the Mexican government offering support to the families affected by the loss of their citizens. The Maryland community has come together to support the grieving families and honor the memory of the men who lost their lives in the bridge collapse. The outpouring of support and prayers for the families affected reflects the deep sense of loss and sadness felt by all.
