AMD has unveiled its Ryzen Pro 8000 series of processors, continuing to emphasize its AI capabilities across laptops and desktops. The Ryzen Pro 8040 series for laptops offers processors with six to eight CPU cores and AI processing capabilities, targeting the commercial notebook segment. AMD claims better performance and battery life compared to Intel’s Core Ultra processors when watching videos. The Ryzen Pro 8000G/E series for desktops includes processors spanning 35-watt to 65-watt TDPs and four to eight cores, marking AMD’s first commercial desktop processors with onboard AI processing.

The Ryzen Pro lineup comes with AMD’s Pro Security features, including hardware and software security enhancements, as well as Microsoft Pluton security integration for comprehensive protection. AMD also offers enhanced manageability, claiming it to be 41% faster to deploy than Intel’s vPro. Partnering with Qualcomm and MediaTek, AMD ensures Wi-Fi 7 connectivity on multiple systems from Lenovo and HP featuring Ryzen Pro 8000 series processors. Overall, 11 systems across laptops and desktops are set to launch with these processors from HP and Lenovo.

AMD should consider expanding its AI capabilities to all desktop SKUs as it has done for laptops, especially as developers focus on building AI applications. With strong endorsements from Lenovo and HP, the success of AMD’s Ryzen Pro series will heavily depend on its performance against Intel’s offerings in the market. Being ahead in the AI desktop space currently, AMD has the opportunity to claim leadership in this area in the short term. Intel is expected to catch up in bringing AI to desktops, while AMD’s focus on AI in laptops reflects the increasing importance of these devices over desktops for OEMs in the PC sector.

It is noteworthy that Moor Insights & Strategy, the source of the article, has business relationships with several technology companies mentioned in the content, including AMD, HP, Intel, Lenovo, MediaTek, Microsoft, and Qualcomm. This may influence the analysis and insights shared in the article. Despite this, the article provides a detailed overview of AMD’s latest Ryzen Pro 8000 series processors and their AI capabilities across laptops and desktops, highlighting the competitive features, security enhancements, and partnerships with leading technology companies for connectivity.
