The 2024 season of Nine’s Married at First Sight has been a big success in the U.K., airing on Channel 4’s E4 and pulling in 1.6 million viewers over one week. The show has become E4’s biggest hit in 2024 and was the highest-rated show in key age groups. The success of MAFS Australia in the U.K. mirrors its popularity Down Under, with the Australian version coming second to the U.K. version in total viewing numbers and scoring high ratings among 25-54-year-olds.

The Australian version of Married at First Sight has also been a hit in its home country, with the finale in April garnering a national average audience of 1,731,000 viewers. However, many of the 2024 participants have been left disappointed after failing to gain fame following their time on the show. The cast members are reportedly upset that they have not built up a significant social media following and are now seeking ways to earn money after quitting their regular jobs during production.

Despite the show’s success in ratings, viewers have reportedly not warmed to the 2024 cast of Married at First Sight Australia as much as in previous years. Most participants have not gained enough social media followers to become full-time influencers, with many banking on their television appearance to become famous. The only cast member to see significant growth in their fan base is Lucinda Light, who has 139,000 Instagram followers.

The show’s popularity extends to digital and pay-TV channels in the U.K., where MAFS Australia was the highest-rated show in key age groups. E4, the channel that aired the show, is aimed at 16-34-year-olds and is part of the U.K. commercial broadcaster Channel 4. The success of the Australian version in the U.K. highlights the global appeal of the reality dating show franchise, as viewers across different countries tune in to watch the drama unfold.

Overall, the 2024 season of Married at First Sight has been a success both in Australia and in the U.K., with high ratings and viewer engagement. The show continues to attract a wide audience, particularly among key age groups, and remains a popular choice for viewers looking for drama and entertainment. Despite some cast members’ disappointment with their lack of fame post-show, the success of MAFS Australia in both countries demonstrates the enduring popularity of the reality TV genre.
