British shoppers have been advised to take note of changes in supermarket opening hours before the upcoming bank holiday Monday. Supermarkets have issued warnings to customers about the timing of their visits ahead of the first May bank holiday. While some individuals will be able to enjoy a three-day weekend, retail workers and employees of various industries will continue to work. However, these workers might have reduced hours, which will affect the opening times of certain stores. Key supermarkets like Aldi, Asda, and Tesco have announced changes in their opening hours to prevent shoppers from arriving after closing time. Some stores have also adjusted their hours for their petrol stations.

Aldi, a budget supermarket chain, will have normal hours on Sunday, but on Monday, their stores will close earlier than usual. Most Aldi stores are expected to close at 8pm on the bank holiday Monday, except stores in Scotland that will maintain their regular hours. Morrisons will operate as usual on Sunday, opening between 7am and 8am and closing at 8pm, with some stores staying open until 10pm. Morrisons petrol stations will also have adjusted hours for the bank holiday. Asda superstores will only be open for six hours on Sunday, from either 10am or 11am until 4pm or 5pm. On Monday, larger Asda stores will have regular hours, opening as early as 6am and closing as late as midnight.

Tesco stores will have limited hours on Sunday due to trading laws, but most stores will open between 10am and 11am and close between 4pm and 5pm. Larger Tesco stores will be open from 8am to 6pm on Monday, with some stores closing at 8pm. Sainsbury’s has confirmed that all stores will maintain normal hours over the bank holiday weekend. Lidl will also have reduced hours on Sunday, opening from either 10am or 11am and closing at 4pm or 5pm. On Monday, Lidl stores will open later at 8am and close at their regular time of 10pm. Waitrose and M&S will have varying opening and closing times depending on the location of the store.

Customers are advised to check the specific details of their local supermarkets before heading out for their bank holiday shopping. Different stores have different operating hours, with some maintaining normal hours and others closing earlier than usual. It is important to be aware of these changes to avoid disappointment or inconvenience when planning a trip to the supermarket over the bank holiday weekend. Understanding the altered timings and adjusting shopping plans accordingly can help shoppers make the most of their long weekend without any interruptions in their grocery shopping routine.
