Bryan Abasolo, who was married to Rachel Lindsay after meeting on The Bachelorette, has filed a motion for emergency spousal support amidst their divorce proceedings. Abasolo claims that Lindsay is still using their marital finances and has not given him access to them. The couple is still living together despite their breakup, and Abasolo finds the living situation to be awkward and strained. He wants to vacate the property but needs financial assistance to do so, as he had put his chiropractic career on hold to support Lindsay’s career moves. The couple had been married for four years, and Abasolo filed for divorce in January.
Lindsay, who previously worked as an attorney, put her legal practice on hold after The Bachelorette to pursue a career in television hosting and podcasting. She has also authored a memoir and a fiction novel. The couple currently shares a house in North Hollywood, having previously rented a luxury condominium in Los Angeles. Abasolo claims that Lindsay has been using their community property funds to pay for her lawyer’s fees and refuses to give him access to those funds for his personal expenses and legal bills. Lindsay has not responded to these allegations.
In addition to requesting spousal support, Abasolo is also asking the judge to order Lindsay to pay $75,000 for his legal fees. He claims that his income is insufficient to cover his expenses, and a hearing is scheduled for July 10 to address these matters. Abasolo believes that the main contested issue in their divorce is the ownership of their shared L.A. home, as Lindsay claims it is her separate property despite Abasolo’s belief that the down payment came from community property funds. Abasolo states that he needs attorney’s fees and a forensic accountant to secure his entitlement to half of the community property.
Lindsay broke her silence on the divorce on her podcast, stating that it was a difficult time for her and that she was still trying to reply to all the supportive messages she had received. She mentioned that she was using her work to distract herself from the situation and that she was taking it day by day. Abasolo’s claims of not having access to funds and needing financial assistance from Lindsay are likely to be addressed in the upcoming court hearing. Lindsay’s refusal to respond to Abasolo’s allegations and her stance on the ownership of their shared property may further complicate the divorce proceedings.
