Bill Maher criticizes Biden for funding campus ‘Jew-hating’ with new student loan plan

Bill Maher criticized President Biden’s proposal to provide student loan forgiveness, expressing concern that his tax dollars will be funding anti-Semitic activity on college campuses. Maher raised questions about the government paying off student loans when colleges continuously raise tuition, leading to the need for more loans. Fox News contributor Kellyanne Conway also criticized the student loan handout, arguing that it is unfair for individuals like plumbers and pipefitters to be paying off the loans of doctors and lawyers.

Bloomberg Businessweek correspondent Joshua Green added to the discussion by pointing out that issues like Gaza and student loan forgiveness are not major motivators for the youth vote. He mentioned that Trump is currently winning the youth vote by a significant margin, according to a recent CNN poll. Green also highlighted how other controversial topics linked to Republicans, such as Trump’s legal issues and South Dakota Governor Kristi Noem’s controversy over her dog, are being overshadowed in the news by the anti-Israel unrest happening on college campuses.

Green argued that Biden was elected to eliminate the chaos of the Trump administration, but the current situation on college campuses contradicts that goal, ultimately causing him to lose the youth vote. Conway agreed with this sentiment, emphasizing that crises can be seen everywhere, from the border to college campuses to Congress. She also condemned the actions of 31 Democrats who voted against a resolution condemning terrorist groups and the antisemitism that affects Jewish students on college campuses.

The panel discussion highlighted the impact of these current events on Biden’s popularity and his ability to secure the support of young voters. Maher and Conway both expressed discontent with the direction of the current administration, with Conway specifically pointing out the lack of action from certain Democratic lawmakers in addressing issues related to antisemitism. The discussion also touched on how Trump’s legal troubles and controversies within the Republican Party are being overshadowed by the anti-Israel unrest and protests happening on college campuses.

Overall, Maher, Conway, and Green all agreed that the current situation in college campuses and the broader political landscape is detrimental to Biden’s image and his efforts to appeal to young voters. The controversy surrounding student loan forgiveness, the rise in anti-Semitic incidents on college campuses, and the lack of response from Democratic lawmakers on these issues have created challenges for the Biden administration. The impact of these events on public perception, political dynamics, and efforts to address key domestic and foreign policy issues were the focus of the panel discussion on “Real Time with Bill Maher.”
