Launch of MeTV Toons, Showcasing Timeless Cartoons, Set for June

Weigel Broadcasting Co. has revealed the launch of a new national television network, MeTV Toons, set to debut on June 25, 2024. The network will feature classic animated favorites from the Warner Bros. library, including beloved characters like Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, Scooby Doo, Tom & Jerry, and more. Fans can look forward to seeing iconic characters such as Yogi Bear, Popeye, Jonny Quest, and Fred Flintstone back on their screens, along with the nostalgic catchphrase “Yabba Dabba Doo.”

In addition to Warner Bros. properties, MeTV Toons will also showcase other timeless cartoon characters like Rocky and Bullwinkle, Casper, Betty Boop, Speed Racer, and Woody Woodpecker. The network aims to provide viewers with a mix of classic animated entertainment that will surely evoke feelings of nostalgia and joy. The announcement of the launch was made with excitement, and fans can anticipate a lineup of beloved animated shows from the past.

MeTV Toons will be added to the lineup of Weigel Broadcasting Co.’s national broadcast TV networks, which includes MeTV, Heroes & Icons, Start TV, Catchy Comedy, MOVIES!, Story Television, Dabl, and MeTV+. The network will be available for multi-platform distribution on over-the-air broadcast television, traditional MVPDs, and virtual MVPDs, as well as offering a complimentary option for ad-supported streaming services. This allows viewers various ways to access the classic animated content.

Neal Sabin, Vice-Chairman of Weigel Broadcasting Co., expressed excitement about the collaboration with Warner Bros. Discovery and other partners to create MeTV Toons. The network aims to offer a dedicated 24/7 channel showcasing the biggest names and most beloved classic cartoons and animated characters. The goal is to reignite the joy and nostalgia of watching cartoons on TV for audiences of all ages, bringing back smiles and memories with the launch of MeTV Toons.

David Decker, President of Content Sales for Warner Bros. Discovery, praised Weigel Broadcasting Co. for their long-standing and innovative licensing partnership with Warner Bros. Having some of the Studio’s most iconic animated characters featured on one platform will be a delight for fans of classic animation. The combination of beloved characters and classic cartoons in one place promises to be not only entertaining but also immensely enjoyable.

To announce the launch of MeTV Toons, animation author, historian, and executive Jerry Beck, and character voice actor Bob Bergen joined the team. Their involvement signifies a shared excitement for the new network and the opportunity to introduce a new generation of viewers to the timeless appeal of classic cartoons. With the lineup of animated favorites and iconic characters set to grace the screens of MeTV Toons, fans can anticipate a wave of nostalgia and entertainment to come their way.
